Visibility at Travel Trade Shows is at risk.

WTM London, ITB Berlin, FITUR Madrid - These travel trade fairs used to offer obvious visibility opportunities. But the rules are changing: With thousands of competing attendees, shifting digital habits, and highly fragmented attention, brands and professionals increasingly get lost in the noise.

BEYOND TRADE SHOW METRICS

Why it's so hard to stand out at modern trade shows: The 3-second challenge

Huge visitor numbers might sound like endless business opportunities -but trade show attention is a hyper-selective, finite budget rather than an evenly distributed resource. Attendees face massive sensory overload throughout their entire journey, dividing exhibitors into two harsh realities:

  • The 'Selected Exhibitor' (~0.5%): Since 76%* of attendees pre-plan their itineraries before arrival, a tiny minority completely locks down the available visitors'attention.

  • The 'Ignored Exhibitor' (99.5%): All other exhibitors are left to compete for random foot traffic on the floor.

Bottom line: Without breaking into that top 0.5% of pre-planned itineraries, a trade show exhibitor inevitably falls into the 'ignored' category - relying entirely on a random 3-second window where an exhausted attendee decides whether to stop or keep walking.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When and where are the biggest tourism expos in Europe taking place?

Travel trade show season in Europe runs between September and March. Here are the dates of the most visited travel trade fairs in Europe:

  • World Travel Market London: 3-5 November 2026, Excel London

  • ITB Berlin: 16-18 March 2027, Berlin Messe

  • FITUR Madrid: 20-24 January 2027, IFEMA MADRID Exhibition Centre

  • TTG Expo Rimini: 14-16 October 2026, Rimini Expo Center

  • IFTM Paris: 15-17 September 2026, Paris Porte de Versailles

Do I need a booth at travel trade shows?

When you're leading an independent hotel, a travel company, or a tourism board, exhibiting at WTM London, ITB Berlin and other major travel trade shows feels vital for global visibility. But today, booking a stand no longer guarantees success: Fragmented visitor attention, shifting digital habits, plus constant geopolitical uncertainties make a booth-first strategy a massive risk. With even small stands often costing over €5,000 and sponsoring packages coming on top, you need an integrated, multi-outcome strategy to capture real value and maximize ROI at modern trade shows.

How can a Trade Show Consultant help exhibitors?

From auditing your current approach to developing and coordinating a new trade show strategy, I help exhibitors drive better outcomes and ultimately, higher ROI at modern tourism expos. Whether you’re a new exhibitor sharing a stand, or an established brand with a premium booth, my advice focuses on amplifying the impact of your marketing, commercial and networking efforts across both digital and offline channels.

For which travel trade fairs do you provide support?

My trade show consulting is designed for the major European B2B tourism shows like WTM London, ITB Berlin, TTG Experience Rimini. I also partner with niche and emerging tourism expos to offer exhibitors innovative, cost-effective alternatives.

What's the difference between a trade show consultant and a traditional PR or trade marketing agency?

Unlike traditional PR and trade marketing agencies that often demand high monthly retainers and long-term contracts, my trade show consultancy is based on flexible commitments focused on optimizing exhibitors' impact and ROI at individual trade shows. Furthermore, standard agencies frequently lack the specialized knowledge of the travel industry ecosystem, while I bring a supply-, distribution- and advertising-side perspective, plus industry connections required to stand out in a crowded space.
